I love the snow, I think it is absolutely gorgeous to photograph in. However I don’t love being cold. This Winter Wonderland shoot was done with my gorgeous cousin Katy Fuhriman and let me tell you, she was a trooper! The day of the session I woke up and saw that the temperature outside was literally 1 degree F. We had Katy scheduled to come over for hair and makeup by 2:30 and by then it had warmed up all the way to 11 degrees F. I was absolutely floored that Katy was not only willing to photograph in such conditions, but during the course of the shoot she managed not to look absolutely freezing!
The session started off with hair and makeup done by a new stylist from Becky’s Beauty, Rebecca Thompson. Becky was fun to work with and kept Katy’s makeup soft and fresh. We shot at two locations for this session. I really wanted that icy, snowy feel and we found it at Wilson Ponds in Nampa, ID. The scene was gorgeous there. Fog billowing off the ponds, Ice and snow still clinging to the tall grass and the cattails…. it was perfect. By the time we were done I think we were all freezing, but again, Katy pulled through beautifully. I look forward to using her again in the future for a much warmer shoot.
